Pete Sessions to alleged Ponzi Schemer Allen Stanford:
“I love you and believe in you.”
Dallas, TX – Tonight, CNBC will air a special program called “More Secrets of the Knight: The Allen Stanford Scandal” which will further explore disgraced financier Allen Stanford’s effort to gain favor with congressional leaders such as Dallas Congressman Pete Sessions in an effort to cover his tracks.
Congressman Sessions has been linked to Stanford through email communications and trips to Antigua funded by Stanford’s non-profit organization. Stanford’s donations to Sessions’ re-election campaigns totaled over $44,000. Just hours after Allen Stanford was charged by federal law enforcement officials for allegedly stealing $7 billion from his investors, Sessions emailed Mr. Stanford saying, “I love you and believe in you. If you want my ear/voice – email. Pete.”
“This relationship further shows that Pete Sessions has gone Washington and puts the interests of the Washington elite above the interests and concerns of the families of the 32nd District,” Michael Points, campaign manager for Grier Raggio said.
“We deserve honest answers from our elected officials,” Points continued. The voters of the 32nd Congressional District deserve to know the truth about how Stanford bought influence with members of Congress such as Rep. Sessions.”
Grier Raggio is the Democratic candidate for Congress in the 32nd district. Raggio will be a pragmatic, problem - solving Congressman, will fight to restore fiscal discipline and common sense to our economic policies.
Tonight at 10pm EST (9pm CST), CNBC will air a report on indicted Ponzi scheme banker Allen Stanford. More information about the CNBC report is available here.
